First up today is the long-awaited confirmation that Arctic Monkeys are working on a new album.
It will be their first new music since 2013’s AM.
Since then, singer Alex Turner has put out a second Last Shadow Puppets album and had fun (committing fashion crimes) on the road with his pal Miles Kane, while drummer Matt Helders banged the skins on Iggy Pop’s Post Pop Depression record and tour.
Bassist Nick O’Malley, it seems, has been concentrating on his motorbike skills. Bike mag For The Ride gave him and fellow Sheffield lad Ryan Jenkinson of Reverand and the Makers the chance to “rip up the Silverstone circuit” on their motorbikes.
Nick apparently confirmed the Arctics were to commence recording their sixth studio album this month in a secret location and that it should be out next year.
If it isn’t [out next year], we’ve got problems.”
The new Makers album Death of a King came out last Friday and you can check out track two Auld Reekie Blues below.
We can picture the smiles across Yorkshire now reading this post.
